RECRUITING NEW
GESLERS
Our GESL family grew in the first half of the year as we recruited new girls through our partner schools in Freetown and Port Loko, and picked up recruitment forms for other girls outside our partner schools, welcoming a total of 50 girls. Together, we are embarking on a journey of empowerment, self-discovery, leadership skills, and mutual support as the newest members of our community. To date we have 433 direct beneficiaries.
SISTER CIRCLE
In the first half of this year, we brought our Sister Circle sessions directly into our partner schools creating spaces where honest conversations turn into lifelong strength. Through peer support and skill-building, 200 girls have discovered their inner power, build self-esteem, and step into confident leadership. Together, we are creating a safe space where every girl's voice is heard, every story matters, and every sister is lifted up.
EMPLOYABILITY BOOTCAMP
In partnership with EducAid, GESL recently hosted their Employability Boot Camp to equip alumni with essential job readiness skills. With 100% of the 30 alumni girls turning up and participating, participants spent the week mastering practical digital tools like Google Workspace, responsible AI usage, personal branding, and interview techniques. We are so proud to see these young women step into the professional world with the skills and confidence needed to thrive.
STAFF WELLNESS
Creating lasting change starts from within. In the first half of this year, we prioritized our staff monthly wellness initiatives designed to prevent burnout and promote a balanced, supportive workplace culture. Taking time to pause, recharge, and support one another has kept our team grounded and motivated.
PARENTS AND TEACHERS CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Our Career Development and Planning Workshop hosted by our partner EducAid brought together parents, teachers, and staff to strengthen their ability to support girls in making informed career choices. The workshop focused on career guidance, mentorship, communication, and creating supportive learning environments both at home and in school. 81.30% of parents and teachers were equipped with practical strategies to to strengthen how we guide and protect young girls.
Across four interactive learning stations, participants gained practical tools on leveraging AI responsibly, safeguarding, starting meaningful conversations, and setting clear and supportive expectations at home and school.
