GESSL EVENTS 2016

CAR WASH FUNDRAISER

Our in-country fundraiser went off with a bang! Cars galore, happy customers, and lots of excited yet exhausted girls. We were pleased with the outpour of support from passersby as well as our lovely consistent family of supporters. Special thanks must go out to Afrigas, Infiniti Trading Ltd, Afro Technology and Logistics, and British International School for their sponsorship of this event. Not forgetting our individual donors we must thank Salton Massally, Marcelo Raad, Abdallah Kesrouani, Sjierly Pereira and Laura Ethel Williams for contributing towards an amazing Day. Bliss, thank you for literally putting the icing on the cake :) The girls and the in-country team may not open a Car Wash any time soon, but they could not think of a better way spending their Saturday raising money and working hard as the strong unit they are :)

BREAST CANCER WALK FOR WELL WOMAN CLINIC

All smiles today as some of our girls attended the annual Breast Cancer Walk by Well Woman clinic today in Freetown. The goal of this annual walk is to raise awareness and funds towards breast cancer and to support health programs for women in Sierra Leone. The girls met up with the mentors Aunty Ajara and Aunty Fullah it was a fun-filled day of bonding and learning for them.

KUSHE: A SUNDOWNER IN MIDTOWN

Thank you to all who attended "Kushe: A Sundowner in Midtown" and made our most recent event a success!  This networking fundraiser was held at the Microsoft Store as an after-work event to gather, meet, mingle, and collaborate.  We were happy to see so many young professionals making lasting connections and discussing their future plans!

PIN UP A FRIEND FUNDRAISER

Pin Up a Friend Back To School Fundraiser took place at Methodist Girls High School! Although the weather had been horrible and the girls were unable to capitalise on the outdoor assembly for their fundraising, the fundraiser went off with a determined bang! Girls moved class-to-class, ribbons were sold, pictures were taken and an atmosphere of celebration was evident despite the miserable weather outside! Go Team GESSL!

PARENTS DAY & AWARDS

Where would GESSL be without our lovely supportive parents! Emotions flew high as GESSL and her parents shared their experiences of the impact of GESSL on their girls so far. We laughed, we cried, and put our heads together to plan an exciting year ahead. Our family keeps growing and we continue to be humbled by their love and support!

CHANUA GIRLS GAME DAY

The majority of our Chanua girls have recently completed their end of year exams and gained good grades. As a result of their hard work and to coincide with summer holidays, we invited them to a relaxed afternoon of games, a movie and a chance to chat with their peers!
